Our mission is to diversify the Asheville and Buncombe County economy toward the sustainability sector: climate-resiliency, environmental science, renewable energy, and so much more.. We aim to build local capacity through education, workforce training, and a robust collaboration between non-profits organizations, businesses, and local government. 

We want to ensure that the people who work here can afford to live here.

The people of Asheville and Buncombe County are blessed to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We care deeply about the well-being of our ecosystem. We want to build an equitable, resilient, and thriving community that sources its energy responsibly and contributes to the well-being of our planet.

We collaborate with organizations, educational institutions, businesses and local government to focus on solutions to the climate crisis.

SUSTAINAVL advocates for the construction of a Living Building in the heart of downtown Asheville. This regenerative building will create more energy than it consumes, offer educational programs, event/meeting space, office space, and housing for some workforce trainees. 

An exciting architectural landmark for the City of Asheville, Climate City Center will be a source of civic pride, a demonstration of our region's strong commitment to the sustainability sector, and a tourist attraction!
